Our Story

A legacy of excellence rooted in royal heritage

The Royal Connection

Château L'Hermitage Lescours entrance

The history of Château L'Hermitage Lescours is intimately woven with French royalty. The original Château de Lescours had the distinguished honor of hosting King Henri IV of France, one of the most beloved monarchs in French history, known for his wit, courage, and love of fine living.

During his reign in the late 16th and early 17th centuries, Henri IV stayed at the château, walking the very grounds where our vines now flourish. His presence left an indelible mark on the estate's legacy, cementing its place in French history and establishing a tradition of excellence that we continue to this day.

Though the original Château de Lescours was later subdivided into smaller estates, including what is now Château L'Hermitage Lescours, we proudly carry forward this royal heritage. Every bottle we produce honors the history of these storied lands and the king who once graced them.

About Château L'Hermitage Lescours

Nestled in the heart of Saint-Émilion, one of Bordeaux's most prestigious appellations, Château L'Hermitage Lescours benefits from an exceptional terroir that has been cultivated for centuries. Our vineyards are blessed with a unique microclimate and soil composition that impart distinctive characteristics to our wines.

The limestone and clay soils, combined with optimal sun exposure and natural drainage, create ideal conditions for our Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc vines. These same geological advantages that made this land valuable to nobility centuries ago continue to produce wines of exceptional quality and character today.

As a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, we maintain the highest standards of viticulture and winemaking. This commitment is guided by our parent company, Champlus Group, a family of estates that also includes our sister property, Château Mongiron. Under this shared vision, we blend traditional methods with modern precision to ensure that each vintage expresses the full potential of our historic terroir.
